This is a true story. Sitting at the pub last Sunday night having a quiet beer. A lady begins convo and asks what it is that I do. A tough question to answer at the best of times, but I gave the pretty standard response of “running a business where we teach people how to beat the bookies..” yadah yadah. She then asked “Do you offer any psychological advice?”. Thinking she had pretty standard intentions to discover more about what we do, I continued on talking about how, yes, your mindset, your approach & your psychology is extremely important and we emphasise this a lot. To which she cut me off and said “soo doo you like just tell people to quit gambling if they want to stop losing?” This caught me a bit by surprise as it was only after this comment I realised she had a very sour opinion instantly of our services. This was further validated by her comment “so you take advantage of people?”. At this point, I would have loved to tell her to f*#k off, but I took the more sensible approach of trying to educate her as to HOW and WHY beating the bookies is possible. Unfortunately, she was too set in her ways to even listen to the facts presented in front of her and stubbornly chose to continue to hate and attack our services’ motives. Moral of the story. I don’t care what you think about a particular topic – if you can’t listen to all sides of a story, critically think for yourself and form your own opinion based on facts and evidence, then you will be forever misinformed in many walks of life.
